IT was a day to savour for Stamfordham as they thumped 10-man Clara Vale II.

With opener Guy Halbert recording his century, the hosts set a high score which their guests were unable to get any where near with Benn Horncastle and Graham Adamson ripping through the order.

Halbert was in impressive form with the bat as he passed the 100 mark, Horncastle making his mark too with a half ton as Stamfordham made their way to 250.

Clara couldn’t live with the deliveries from opening bowlers Horncastle and Adamson as they went down without a whimper, Angus Patterson also taking a wicket to end a miserable afternoon for the away side.

The victory put Stamfordham back in the Division Two title race after both Mitford sides suffered defeats, failing to take advantage of leaders Belsay’s idle weekend.

Second placed Mitford A slipped up as they went down at home to Hexham Leazes II. With Rachel Foreman taking centre stage with three wickets, Leazes bowled Mitford out for 141 with Christ Kirtley and Kieran Mole the biggest contributors.

Hexham found the required runs in 32 overs as they were spearheaded over the line by an unbeaten 50 from Raji Kingman, well assisted by opener Tony Crosby.

Mitford B were on the losing side too as they recorded a disappointing total as they faced hostile bowling from Humshaugh II. Humshaugh batted first and struggled against some great bowling from Michael Briggs, Michael Arnup, Liam Ridley, Andy Mullen and Glen Tweddle reaching double figures.

Yet Mitford faced even trickier deliveries with Jamie Telfer recording excellent figures of 5-2 from 15 balls, all out on just 55 with Carmichael and Jordan Mallaburn the only ones to make it past 10.

Corbridge Millers breezed to maximum points as they thumped lowly Stocksfield IV.

Ralph Marrison batted well for Stocksfield but his teammates provided little assistance, some tight bowling from Kiel Zurawlew, Connor Garrett-Jowsey and Josh Trewhitt keeping the lid on the scoring.

With Ian Haggie hitting six fours and Zurawlew supporting him well, Corbridge were home and hosed in the 14th over.

The nine men of Allendale II put up a good fight but ended up on the losing side as they welcomed Haltwhistle II. Allendale batted well and made it through their 34 overs, an unbeaten half ton from Richard Sadler and a good knock from John Raglan taking them to 150. Four wickets from Ben Cousins helped the score from moving on further.

In reply, a second wicket stand between Chris Smith, also with 50 not out, and John Kirkup saw Haltwhistle end with 18 points.
