With their guests requiring 90 runs for the win but with only three wickets left, the teams went off for rain and never returned to action.
Put into bat first, Stocksfield found runs easy to come by through Steven Henderson (41) and Ben Archer (78). Alex Brown then made 25, with Sam Mannion (16) and Dan Whiley (4) at the crease when the innings ended on 201-4.
With James Tolchard (2-31) striking early, Whickham struggled to 32-3 as Andrew Wood (2-15) and Ben Hutton (2-33) claimed wickets. Mannion struck in his first over, and victory looked within Stocksfield’s grasps until they were cruelly denied.
Ten-man Stocksfield III defeated Consett II by four wickets, Chris Catnach (4-45) claiming five wickets as Consett ended on 230-6. There were good contributions by all eight of Stocksfield‘s batsmen particularly Trevor Walker (39), David Tyrrell (31) and Matt Scandle (30no).
