HAVING missed out in the KO Cup final, Newcastle III claimed the Division Two league title.

Going into this weekend‘s finale, they can no longer be caught following their eight wicket victory over bottom club Humshaugh II .

Struggling Humshaugh were all out for 23 and it was easy pickings for Newcastle who secured their promotion within nine overs.

In-form Belsay ended their season by breaking into the top four, defeating Corbridge Millers by 36 runs.

Chris Townson top scored with 41 as they were all out for 127, with Jonathan Dunkley top scoring with 23 in reply as Millers finished on 91.

Stocksfield IV moved up three places after a five wicket triumph over the nine men of Hexham Leazes II .

Leazes posted 153-6 with thanks largely to openers Simon Richardson (41) and Rob Willis (36), but Stephen Smith (55) hit back with a half century to guide Stocksfield to 10 points.

Wark ended with a resounding nine wicket success over Allendale II , Greg McConnell starring to take 5-12 to remove Dale for 82 and then going on to top score with 46 not out.

South Northumberland 1864 defeated Medomsley by seven wickets having bowled them out for 70, while Mitford II beat Haltwhistle II by four wickets as they chased 115. Wylam II conceded their game away to Mitford .
