TYNEDALE new boy Sam Mannion found form at the right time.

Facing Stocksfield for the first time since leaving in the summer, he played a big part in a match winning partnership of 63 with James Rainford (47*) to gear his new side into the second round of the Bobby Smithson Northumberland County Cup.

The teenager (22*) and Rainford were brought together with Tyne on 36-3 following a small wobble, Emerson Brown and Rob Thirlwell making things hard for the home order.

Remaining patience against some good deliveries, they took it to their Tyne Valley rivals at the midway stage with some nicely timed fours and well placed sixes ending the chase in the 15th over of the T20 game.

Stocksfield's exciting prospect Luke Doneathy had earlier made 40 big runs to take his team to a collective 94, sharing the innings with several batting partners, Chris Patterson the most productive.

Midway through their innings, Stocksfield looked poised to go well beyond the 100 mark with Doneathy bolstering the team with some deft cuts to the offside.

Their hopes were dashed with the introduction of Josh Renton to Tynedale's bowling attack, claiming four wickets including the vital capture of Doneathy just moments after being dropped by Rainford in the deep.

Allendale await Tynedale in the next round after they were awarded their first round tie due to opponents Haltwhistle conceding.
