HEXHAM'S Queen Elizabeth High School enjoyed a dominant appearance at the U15 Lady Taverners Cricket Festival.
For the school produced both winners from the west and central districts, QE sending two teams forward to the Northumberland final on March 17.
In a bumper spell for cricket in West Northumberland, Corbridge Middle and Ovingham Middle qualified for the county's U13 competition on March 23. Special mention goes to Corbridge's Lizzie Scott for her score of 89 not out in a very competitive final with Hexham's St Joseph's Middle.
Tom Cant, cricket development officer for West Northumberland, said "It was a great week for the girls, and it's been fantastic to see the number of schools entering and the amount of girls playing.
"The challenge now is to get them to migrate to their local clubs and play in a club environment."
