HUMSHAUGH II's batsmen racked up a high score as they inflicted a heavy defeat on their Hexham Leazes II counterparts.

Home skipper Carl Binovec declared with the score on 229 with five overs of the innings remaining, the score nearly 145 more than what Hexham would reply with even if they did prevent Humshaugh from getting maximum points.

Adam Murphy and Owen Murtough looked like they were going to bat through, but the former fell before his half century.

However, Murtough passed his 50 and was joined by Andy Mullen who matched the achievement as their knocks guided the team past the 200 mark. For Leazes, Rachel Foreman took two wickets as she accounted for Mullen and Binovec.

Leazes were always well under the run rate despite Matt Joyce and David Oliver getting them off to a solid start.

Debutant Lee Buckingham claimed the breakthrough by bowling skipper Joyce, while Jason Arnup and Murtough took two wickets each to prevent Leazes from challenging, Alex Fitton the only other batsman to reach double figures.

Mitford B maintained their charge at the top of the table as they picked up 18 points in their slender victory at Corbridge Millers .

A win was imperative as title rivals Belsay and Stamfordham were both gifted maximum points as respective hosts Clara Vale II and Wylam II conceded their fixtures.

The result was in doubt as Corbridge's bowlers, inspired by four wickets from Connor Garrett-Jowsey, had the visitors worried, but a crucial knock late in the innings from Lawrence Park ensured Mitford are still leading the way.

Corbridge batted well with openers Gary Chamberlain and Ian Haggie, and Mark Terry, guiding the team to 150 despite Colin Crowe, Matt Edwards and Jordan Mallaburn enjoying success with the ball.

Shuja Khan's opening spell caused problems for Mitford's top order as he accounted for the first three batsmen, but good knocks from Graeme Potts and Crowe, following Head-Rapson's good start, put Mitford on track.

Garrett-Jowsey turned the game on its head, but Park kept his cool to guide his team to victory.

Despite a half century from opener Howard Robson, Allendale II weren't able to post a total to trouble Wark .

The decent innings of 137, which also included a good knock from Michael Lee, was surpassed by the North Tyne side with the loss of just two wickets, with 40s from Mick Turner and Phil Suckling earning them the points.

Martyn Thorpe and Ryan Potts also contributed to the victory, with Thorpe, Turner and Jeffrey all making their mark with the ball for Wark too.

Medomsley were given a scare by Stocksfield IV but came through to record just their second win of the season.

Chasing 50 runs, they lost five wickets as Sam Douglas and Dan Taylor impressed with the ball.

However, an unbeaten sixth wicket stand from Richard Longstaff and Jordan Bell secured maximum points for Medomsley in the 20th over.

With Herdman impressing with four wickets, Stocksfield struggled for runs with number 11 Elena Veal top scoring before caught in the 29th over.
