STOCKSFIELD had no answer to Lintz’s batting display as they fell to a second successive defeat.

The hosts made good use of their short square to hammer 266 runs, a total of 128 more than what their Tyne Valley opponents could muster in reply.

A reasonable start for Lintz was disrupted when Nick Hunt (14) was caught by Tris Douglas off Rob Thirlwell (1-41), and Johnny Forster (19) was bowled by Andrew Wood (1-44) with the score on 56-2.

Opener Kieron Gohery (20) was the next to go when lbw to James Tolchard (4-74) but a 51 run partnership between Nick Young (38) and Jordan Clennell (55) took the home side to 124-4.

Young was caught by keeper Dan Whiley off Tolchard, and Clennell finally departed after making his half ton when caught by Tolchard off James Doneathy (2-50).

From 165-5, Lintz smashed their way to 220 with Ryan McVittie (41) and captain Gary Christie (39) impressing. The former was bowled by Tolchard, the latter run out by Chris Patterson.

The home side were steered past the 250 mark courtesy of Paul Lumley (5), caught by Wood off Douglas (1-24), Marcus Peart (18), caught by Steven Henderson off Tolchard, and Joe Bainbridge (4) caught by Whiley off Doneathy.

Christopher Snowball remained at the crease after making five runs.

Stocksfield’s reply received an early setback when Steven Henderson departed for a duck, with Luke Doneathy (4) departing with the score on 12.

Patterson went for a first ball duck but Douglas (18) helped rebuild the innings alongside the impressive Ben Archer (52).

After Douglas went with the score on 37-4, Whiley (22) and Archer put on 49 to give the away side hope.

However Whiley was lbw to Paul Lumley (3-46) and Archer went for a run-a-ball 52 as Stocksfield made triple figures.

Wood (17) and Thirlwell (21) put on a steady knock, but Emerson Brown (0) and James Doneathy (0) offered little assistance to Thirlwell once Wood had gone.

Thriwlell put on a further 12 runs but met his match when caught by bowler Lumley, Tolchard (0*) not adding to the total of 138 despitefacing 15 deliveries.

Stocksfield III’s home game with Consett II fell foul to the weather, as did Corbridge first team’s trip to Blagdon Park in the Northumberland Premier Division.

Corbridge II, meanwhile, defeated Clara Vale II by six wickets in Division Two.

Clara were restricted to 85 runs, with captain Chris Jowsey impressing with three wickets for just seven runs. Kiel Zurawlew (2-28), Charles Reid (2-35), Richard Stokoe (1-0) and Chris Robson (1-12) claimed the other wickets.

Corbridge reached their goal in the 30th over courtesy of good contributions from Steve Kent (22), Mark Terry (20), Zurawlew (17) and Darren White (17*).
