AN UNBEATEN century from Mark Foster helped Blagdon Park to victory over Corbridge.

It was fitting that he should hit the winning runs, a four through mid wicket taking him to 103 not out and earning his side maximum points.

Corbridge's cause was not helped by several dropped catches which cost them dearly in the end.

Captain Andy Dover won the toss and elected to bat first, but they stuttered to 13-2 as Russell Perry and Doug McKendrick departed early doors.

Chris Fowler and Marcus Sewell restored order with a partnership of 58 in just 12 overs, taking the attack to the bowlers.

Fowler fell after a quick 32, with Dover continuing the good work as he and Sewell added 92 runs for the fourth wicket with Sewell bringing up his second 50 of the season.

He evenutally fell after seven fours, leaving Corbridge at 163-4 off 39 overs. Dover followed soon after, and from there the visitors were all out for 207 with Zubair Ahmed unable to bat due to his late arrival.

Blagdon's Matty Senior caused the most damage as he finished with five wickets.

Blagdon struggled early on against a swinging ball, Perry removing Adam Clarke for a duck, caught at slip by Fowler.

Foster and Sam Eyres added 43 for the second wicket, before Dean Robinson had Eyres caught behind by Sewell.

Matty Senior supported Foster well as they put on 48 for the third wicket, with Corbridge in with a shout with Dover removing him. Their chances were boosted when Robinson had Angus Johnson caught at slip by John Maude.

The hosts still needed 83 runs at this point, and that total was secured by Foster and Andy Senior as they mixed cautious defence with some big hitting to steer their team home with four overs to go.

Corbridge were joined by scorer Jenny Wilkes who fielded with a broken finger to make up the numbers.

Corbridge II were awarded the points when Embleton conceded their Division Two fixture.
