TOM Cant led the way as Tynedale won a high scoring affair at struggling Leadgate.

His knock of 92 guided his side to a second consecutive win, their innings of 270-6 earning them 20 points as their hosts fell 21 runs short of the target.

Tyne‘s batting order was on fire throughout, Cant ably assisted by his teammates to put them in the driving seat.

With the away side putting themselves into bat first, they raced to 73 with openers Jamie Crichton (41) and John Meadows (44) setting the tone.

The attack-minded Meadows made seven fours and a six but his contribution was ended when Callan McCabe (3-45) bowled him a good one.

Skipper Cant (92) joined Crichton at the crease as they continued to push the score on, taking them comfortably past 100 when Crichton was caught by Callan McCabe off Luke McCabe (1-16).

But the dismissal didn’t disrupt Tynedale‘s flow, and a staggering 112 run partnership between Cant and half century making James Rainford (56) had them flying at 229-2.

Rainford was caught by Sam Stephenson to give Callan McCabe a second wicket, with Cant, who hit eight fours and three sixes from the 121 deliveries faced, caught by Aaron McCabe off Leadgate skipper Ross Burdon (2-54).

Connor Fellowes (13) chipped in before falling to a catch from David Richardson off Burdon after 17 balls.

The innings was all but over when Noah Hiles (3no) and Will Dagg (0no) were paired together, Tynedale posting 270.

After Leadgate made their way to 36, Cant (3-43) put his side back in control when he took two wickets with two balls, catching opener Robbie Hockaday (16) himself and then having Callan McCabe (0) caught behind by Crichton.

Sam Stephenson (21) and Luke McCabe (76) put on 30 for the third wicket, but Cant made it three wickets when Stephenson was the next to be caught by the skipper.

Cant was on fire and had Burdon (0) run out with Leadgate slumping to 66-4.

The innings was rebuilt as Luke McCabe was still in free scoring form, he and David Richardson (11) taking them to 134. The partnership was ended when Richardson went to a catch to Hiles off Curtis Lucas (2-39) with the dangerous McCabe Lucas‘ second victim to a catch from Cant.

Aaron McCabe (1) could only post a single before being lbw to Callum Barnes (1-45), but Leadgate passed the 200 mark courtesy of a 60 run partnership between Harvey Jackson (46) and Matt Withers (35).

But they faltered when Jackson was caught by Josh Renton off Matthew Percival (2-18), Daniel Gowland (14) then bowled by Percival and Withers caught by Hiles off Dagg (1-39) to end Leadgate’s chase on 249.

Century making Neil Clark (109) guided Tynedale II to a four wicket win at Lintz II.

Lintz looked in control at 146-0, and ended on 243 as Mark Clark (4-65) took four wickets.

Neil Clark‘s knock, which included 16 fours and a six, won it as the game approached its second last over.
