RESTRICTING them to just one point, Stamfordham’s big win knocked Belsay off the top spot.

The visitors inflicted a first defeat of the season on the high flyers, Belsay out for just 77 runs during a disappointing day all-round.

Stamfordham’s opening bowlers Graham Adamson and Ian Donkin ripped through the top order, but Belsay skipper Jack Fenwick fought back.

However, he was the only player to post any telling runs with Guy Halbert matching the three wickets of his opening teammates.

Halbert and Donkin were untroubled as they went after the score, Tom Peel replacing Halbert at the crease and seeing the game end in the 15th over.

Stamfordham will hope to take that form into the weekend when they contest the KO Cup final with Mitford.

Mitford A were happy to take advantage as they moved to the top with maximum points over Allendale II.

Kieran Mole was their star with an unbeaten century, but Mitford’s bowlers were in good form with Chris Kirtley, Jack Taylor, Baker and Jonny Lees all scoring freely.

For Allendale, Jerry Taylor and Archie Fletcher took two wickets each.

Allendale were unable to challenge in reply, despite good contributions from John Raglan, Howard Robson and Chris Welch.

Humshaugh II maintained their good form with a good win over Haltwhistle II.

Good knocks from Simon Turner, Glen Tweddle and Paul Brierley contributed to the victory, seeing off a strong challenge from the hosts.

While Michael Arnup’s two wickets caused problems, Haltwhistle were indebted to a fantastic innings from Chris Smith in moving them beyond 100 with Daniel Heppell also contributing.

A half century from Matt Joyce guided Hexham Leazes II to victory over Corbridge Millers.

Their total of 155 was enough for the points, even though Alex Willis, Charles Reid, Charles Downs and Gary van Doorn all took two wickets for the Millers.

A solid knock from Kiel Zurawlew had Corbridge threatening, but some good early deliveries from Tom Mawson and Toby Willis were followed up by an excellent spell at the death by Ben Teasdale.

Wark were big victors over Stocksfield IV as the racked up a big score.

They passed 200 with opener Greg McConnell making 50, and Ryan Potts and Mick Turner adding to the total.

Steven Page batted well for Stocksfield, but it was Wark’s bowlers on top with Simon Jeffrey and Lee Telfer in the wickets.

Despite losing both openers Joe Jackson and Carmichael to ducks, Mitford B breezed to victory over Medomsley.

It was the combination of Andy Gaynor and Graeme Potts which earned them the 20 points, reaching the target of 103 within 14 overs. Neil Farrington and Paul Nesbitt batted well for Medomsley, but the visitors were faced with good bowling from Mitford.
