CORBRIDGE’S wretched form continued as they picked up a single point from their trip to Blyth.

They dropped into the bottom two as a result of their heavy defeat, again unable to manage a good score with the bat as they were dismissed for just 78 runs. Things started disastrously as they lost David Smurthwaite with the score on four, with Simon Walker run out soon after.

Opener David Cook was caught with the score on 20, with Marcus Sewell departing 10 runs later.

Russell Perry was sticking around with Sewell, but the loss of Doug McKendrick, Jeremy Scott and Chris Robson within quick succession had them struggling on 39-7.

Zubair Ahmed didn’t last much longer, but Perry and his captain Andy Dover put on 33 to steady the ship slightly.

But Dover was caught and Perry eventually bowled for a good score of 33, ending Corbridge’s innings at the beginning of the 31st over.

Corbridge were given hope of a low scoring victory when Ahmed had Andy Rowell bowled with the score on 12.

But Andy Clark and Gary Cotterill pushed the score on, Clark going for 20 when caught by Dover off Perry.

However, Cotterill and Andrew Ebdale geared them towards the score with the former dismissed two runs short of the goal when caught by Sewell off the bowling for Dover.
