LOSING out in the final last year, Allendale are looking to go one step further in 2017.

They have again made the final of the West Tyne League Division One KO Cup, aiming to put last year's defeat to Haydon Bridge behind them when they face Matfen Hall.

They looked in control in the 2016 showdown but wee penalised for a slow over rate, gifting their opponents 10 extra runs as they exceeded the 75 minute time allowance to complete their 20 overs.

Allendale have returned to good form after a two week blip threatened to derail their season, but they will come up against a much improved Matfen Hall side.

With their promising juniors improving all the time, the addition of New Zealand duo Alex Tait and Will O'Brien has resulted in them being more competitive, and a good final is in store when they took to the pitch at Tynedale Cricket Club on Sunday, at around 4pm.

It follows the Division Two Cup which will be contested by Stamfordham and Mitford B, at 1pm.

Both teams harbour hopes of clinching the title, but the cup championship is a more realistic goal and they will be gunning for glory in what promises to be a really close affair.
