CRICKETERS at Hexham's Queen Elizabeth High School bagged bragging rights over their mates.

For the school's first team defeated their second team counterparts in the final of the Northumberland Cricket Board U15 boys' indoor competition, held at Blyth.

The firsts batted first and put in a strong display, making 126 from their eight overs. The second team gave it a good go in reply, but ended 41 runs of the target.

The victory wrapped up a West Northumberland double following Hexham Middle School's triumph in the U13 tournament.

The final brought an exciting competition to a close with St Thomas More, of Blaydon, finishing third as two of their games went down to the last ball, keeping the umpires and teachers on their toes.
