TYNEDALE captain Tom Cant made his debut as skipper of Northumberland at Jesmond.

His team won one and lost one in a double header against Lincolnshire in the MCCA T20 competition group stage on an afternoon of big hitting.

In the first match, Cant contributed an unbeaten 24 in a losing total of 207 for 4, chasing a mammoth 291 to win.

The second match proved more of procession for Northumberland. Cant didn’t bat but took 2 for 39 and led his team to a seven wicket win, chasing down 237.

Former Durham and England player Phil Mustard made 186 out of Northumberland’s aggregate of 446 runs.
