AMONG the top-class equestrian competitors who made the journey to this year’s Great Yorkshire Show, there were many from Tynedale who took home rosettes.

In the Mountain and Moorland in hand competition, two-year-old Hawfinch, from High Raw Green in Hexhamshire, came away with an impressive second place in the Exmoor pony class.

The result was made even more exciting for owner Juliet Rogers as it was the pony’s first-ever show.

Tynedale’s Mountain and Moorlands also impressed in other categories, with Cargarsar Silver Phantom, belonging to Sara Dowdeswell of West Oakwood in Hexham, coming second in the ridden Welsh Section C.

Chris Grant, of Birks Cottage Farm at Heddon-on-the-Wall, took home a third place rosette with his Highland pony Dunedin McGregor in the in hand Connemara, Highland or New Forest pony class.

And Taka Ra Haka, of Todridge, of Greenfield in Wall, was awarded a second place rosette after impressing judges in the stallion or gelding donkey class.
