The district sent five teams to the county championships, and they all returned with medals after producing three winning teams and two silver medalists.
The championships pitted pupils in various indoor athletics challenges as part of a larger team, with points accumulated over the various activities.
After cleaning up at the Tynedale championships, Ovingham Middle School had four teams in action.
And they struck gold in the Key Stage Two competition aimed at teams of mixed sexes, continuining their impressive form for first place.
The gold followed the success enjoyed by the Year 7 boys’ team in the Key Stage Three final as they breezed to the county title.
Only Hexham’s St Joseph’s Middle School’s Year 8 boys’ team denied Ovingham a clean sweep in the Tynedale championships, and they were again at their best for first place in Northumberland.
There was further success for Ovingham with their Year 7 girls’ and Year 8 girls’ teams claiming silvers.
