AN INTERNATIONAL star is returning to Northumberland to support the development of the county’s equestrian coaches and riders.

Horse bedding company Bedmax Shavings has teamed up with Northumberland Sport to bring former Team GB performance manager for eventing, Yogi Breisner, to Alnwick Ford Equestrian Centre on March 18 and 19.

Breisner, who has visited Wark’s Park End Equestrian Centre in the past, will be in the area for the event, Bedmax Inspires with Yogi Breisner, as part of Northumberland Sport’s ongoing work with Sport England and Sports Coach UK.

It will offer the county’s coaches and riders the opportunity to learn from one of the most successful performance managers in the history of the sport. Swedish-born Breisner was a member of the Swedish eventing team from 1976 to 1987.

During his spell with the national team, he won European team gold in 1983 and competed in the 1984 Los Angeles Olympics.

In the peak of his riding career, he finished in the top 10 at the world famous Badminton four times.
