This was an amazing achievement, coming out on top of all schools in England, putting Prudhoe and the Tyne Valley on the running map. The time and hard work put in by the runners, school staff (Keith Robson) and coaches at Tynedale Harriers was recognised in their success.

As a result of the team's success, a Girls' team was selected to represent all English schools in the World Schools Cross Country Championships, held in Fontainebleau in the spring of 1990.
