In Division One of the O'Neill Richmonds West Tyne Senior Cricket League, top of the table Haydon Bridge remain unbeaten and are now 65pts clear of nearest rivals Stamfordham following another one-sided contest against South Northumberland 1864 on Saturday, August 12.

After losing the toss and being put in to bat by the hosts, South Northumberland 1864 were dismissed for 78 in 29.3 overs. The pick of the bowlers were Tom Waugh (3-5), Mark Elliott (2-10) and Jamie Taylor (2-4).

In reply, Haydon Bridge eased their way to victory by nine wickets in 15.2 overs with the runs scored by Neil Kendrew (25), Robert Gibson (33 not out) and Dale Leadbitter (21 not out).

After being asked to bat first at Stamfordham, visitors Wylam were all out for 155 in 39 overs having been 135-5 at one stage. The bulk of the runs came from opener Neil Wells (46 from 79 balls) and No.4 James Cantrell (67 from 79 balls), with all-rounder Josh Wallace (3-24 off eight overs) in good form with the ball. In reply, opener Wallace (37 from 75 balls) and No.3 Tom Common (63 from 85 balls) laid the foundation for Stamfordham to secure victory by five wickets with two overs to spare.

Belsay won by 84 runs at home to Riding Mill. Batting first after losing the toss, valuable knocks from club captain Allan Johnson (43), Sheron Jansz (26) and opener Andrew Welford (24) helped the hosts post a total of 151 all out from the allotted 40 overs.

Alan Fletcher (4-33 off 8 overs) enjoyed the most success of the six bowlers used by Riding Mill who then collapsed from 46-1 to 67 all out in 24.3 overs. The damage was done by Nuwan Liyanage (5-17 off 8 overs) and Solly Mills (4-12 off 5 overs).

Bottom of the table Hexham Leazes, 2022 champions Humshaugh and Newton conceded their matches against Haltwhistle, Mitford and Benwell Hill respectively.

In Division Two, only two of the scheduled four matches went ahead as Riding Mill and Wylam conceded to Stocksfield and leaders Haltwhistle respectively.

Newbrough replaced Stocksfield at the bottom of the table after losing by 10 wickets at home to Mitford. Dylan Swaile (14) offered the most resistance for the hosts who were skittled out for 27 in 9.2 overs, with the wickets shared by Alex Kirtley (5-9 off 3 overs), Jake Edwards (2-7 off 3 overs) and Chris Townson (3-1 off 1.2 overs). Mitford openers Martin McKenna and Colin Crowe ensured an early finish as they reached 29-0 in only 5.5 overs.

In the other game, hosts Medomsley (135 all out) lost by three wickets to this season's Division Two KO Cup winners Allendale (137-7).

In Division One of the North East Premier League, Tynedale 1st XI won by six wickets at Priors Flat against Crook 1st XI. The bulk of the visitors' runs came from No.5 Marcus Sharp (52 from 55 balls) along with 20 extras as they were dismissed for 120 in 30.1 overs. Tom Cant, Archie Fletcher, and Luke Mussett all took three wickets. In reply, Cant (68 from 79 balls) and Euan Stephenson (25 from 18 balls) helped the hosts coast to victory in the 23rd over.

In Division Two, Tynedale 2nd XI only had nine players for the trip to Crook where they won the toss and elected to bat. Craig Barber (80 from 61 balls) top-scored as they slipped from 83-3 at one stage to 114 all out in 19.4 overs. Crook opener Philip Wills (54 not out from 54 balls) and No.3 Andrew Robinson (38 from 26 balls) added 73 for the second wicket as the hosts secured a comfortable win by seven wickets in 19.1 overs.
