Ian Walton will compete in the over-50 category triathlon at the European Championships.
A TRIATHLETE from the district is gearing up to compete at the European Championships in Glasgow this weekend.
Ian Walton will represent Team GB in the over-50 category on Saturday, in a triathlon event made up of a 750m swim, a 20km bike ride and a 5km run.
The 50-year-old, who is manager of Matfen Hall's Aqua Vitae fitness centre, will line-up alongside other competitors aged 50-55 at Strathclyde Country Park.
He said: "I'm just 50, so I'll be the bairn in the age group. I'm looking forward to it."
