The 15-year-old went up against the senior men in the 400m and won, with a time of 50.18s, at Gateshead International Stadium.
His second placed finish in the 200m, of 23.27s, was also a personal best.
The Tynedale Harrier used the event, on August 8, as part of his preparations for the English Athletics U17 Championships at Belford International Stadium on August 25 and 26.
The pupil at Blaydon’s Thomas More School will also compete in the English School Games at Loughborough University on September 2 and 3.
Other young members of Tynedale Harriers also performed impressively at Gateshead.
Kate Salthouse finished third in the U15 girls 800m with a time of 2m 23.89s.
Long-distance runner Charlie Daley was second in the 3,000m at U15 level with a time of 10m 02m 01s.
And another Tynedale Harrier, Kirstie Anderson, was third woman home in the Morpeth Harrier’s 10k road race.
