A CAPACITY crowd at Hexham's Wentworth Leisure Centre welcomed the district's local sporting stars.
The sports hall was crammed for this year's Sport Tynedale Awards, the ceremony celebrating the fantastic achievements of our sporting heroes from a wide range of sports, ages and levels.
Sport Tynedale president Allison Curbishley handed out the awards on the evening, and was joined by marathon runner Aly Dixon, who competed for Team GB at this year's Rio Olympics.
There was also a demonstration given by the newly formed Tynedale Fencing Club.
For turning their fortunes around after being devastated by Storm Desmond, Corbridge Tennis Club received the prestigious Tynedale Trophy for the best winner from the adult categories, while Hannah Pinkney, a star triathlete with One Life Racing club who won silver at the European Championships, earned the Ian Turner Trophy for best junior.
