CLOSE to 300 runners from across the North-East descended on Prudhoe for the launch of the town's weekly parkrun.
Sporty volunteers from the area have worked tirelessly in recent months to bring the global series of 5km runs to the Tyne Valley, and the first event proved a huge success with local people turning out in force to support their local event.
The run will be held each Saturday morning at 9am from Prudhoe's Riverside Country Park.
