Although he now lives on Teesside, he, my sister, Brenda Johnston, and I, celebrated his anniversary in Hexham last week.
However, I would like to point out an error. He was not the first Roman Catholic priest to be ordained in St Mary’s since 1527. He was, however, the first one to be ordained in Hexham since the dissolution of the black canons in the Abbey in 1537.
