I WISH to totally agree with last week’s letter in the Hexham Courant entitled ‘Embrace Change’ by Mike Coe.

We desperately need jobs and investment in Hexham; it’s very important for the local economy.

I’m sure everybody will agree, yet all we get from councillors, the civic society and like-minded people, are negative vibes.

A huge example of this is the possible development of a new garage at Bridge End – in my opinion a perfect spot as the place is a derelict mess.

It would tidy up the area on the approach into Hexham, create jobs and encourage passing trade from the A69.

And, for heaven’s sake, another garage is needed in the town; again there are objections to the scheme.

Also, take the long-running saga of the bus station – you would think it was moving to Mars or somewhere.

A few yards down the road we are getting a modern facility, still on the flat, in the town centre.

I was also pleased to hear the possible return of the Co-op in Hexham at a site in the west end – we certainly need a retail outlet in this part of the town as just now there is nothing.

Over the years there have been many examples of new ideas and companies hoping to invest in Hexham getting a very negative response.

So, instead of saying ‘no’ to everything try saying ‘yes’ and give some much-needed vision for the town.
