I WOULD like to thank everyone for their kindness after I was knocked down by a reversing car on Priestpopple in Hexham on October 29.

Despite unpleasant drizzle and rain, kind members of the public stayed with me for nearly an hour until an ambulance arrived.

People covered me with jackets and held their umbrellas over me as I lay on the road.

The Cancer Research charity shop provided blankets and cushions and police took off their waterproof jackets.

I was taken to Newcastle’s Royal Victoria Infirmary and diagnosed with a cracked pelvis. I was moved to the Freeman Hospital and, after four days, back to Hexham.

I am pleased to say I am now recovering at home and shall not forget the kindness shown that day by the many people of Hexham.

MARGARET MILLER,

Hexham.
