ON June 23, the British public voted overwhelmingly to leave the EU.

The message was that the public is wholeheartedly sick of not being listened to and completely ignored by politicians of all colours. Those politicians are now either gone or waiting to go. Thank goodness, and good riddance.

Northumberland County Council has clearly not yet received this message as it continues on its relentless campaign to destroy our once beautiful county with yet another massive bird chopping wind farm being built on a Northumbrian estate well known for being a hen harrier nesting and hunting ground, despite these birds being on the endangered list and only a few pairs left in the UK, according to the RSPB.

Also, we are destined to have a £40m waste of our money with yet another brand new council headquarters, which the residents of Northumberland have said we do not want; more building permissions for more huge ugly housing across the county despite public protests; and the astonishing news that the council wishes to impose a shocking 1,800 new houses on the residents of Ponteland who it would appear have unanimously rejected the idea.

To rub salt into the wound, we have the economic director of the county council now telling those residents that what they really want is these 1.800 houses, destroying yet more agricultural green belt right on their doorsteps.

How long will it take to get rid of these dinosaurs who seem oblivious to what people in the real world actually want and before they cause more permanent damage?

P. FAIRLESS,

Morpeth
