WHICH planet did the Hexham Courant talk to the shoppers about when assessing the town’s offer?

What is the young woman quoted in the report, who at 21 cannot find anywhere to eat other than grotty pubs, actually looking for?

I walked around today and found in excess of 40 eateries in 20 minutes around the town centre – many were open to families of all ages, many offered all sorts of varied fare!

What does she want? The offer ranges from fine cuisine at Bouchon, to pub grub, and all points in between.

As for children’s clothes and gear, well, Beales alone has a massive toy section. And every one of the other 18 shops I counted offer children’s clothes, and toys, and camping gear, and...more than you can shake a stick at.

The other commentaries were no better. This town offers an amazing range - if you open your eyes!

In addition, the range of clubs and groups for every age and every interest is without equal.

When I was in my teens I had a 90-mile round trip to a bowling alley; when I was in my early twenties I had to travel 40 miles for most of the things I wanted to do.

Here, I am astounded by what is on offer.

Please, people of Hexham, wake up.

“Privileged” is a way I would describe the offer here in Hexham, not in any sense limited.

The only single thing that is limited for me, if you want to nit pick, would be the market.

But watch this space now that I have said that – the request goes out here and miracles happen, you lucky, lucky people!
