I AM wondering how the public inputs to the decision about releasing lynx in Kielder, especially having read news articles about the lynx that escaped from Dartmoor zoo recently.
Nursery children were warned to stay indoors and people told not to approach it.
I believe it ate not only rabbits, but also tackled a lamb before it was caught.
I understand lynx are unlikely to approach people, but imagine they might react if chased by a dog for example.
The risk to livestock, pets, and potentially even children, really concerns me.
I would like to understand the benefits that are envisaged by the proponents of this move, experts' assessments of the risk, and the process by which a decision is made.
