MIKE Coe is entirely wrong in suggesting that those fighting to keep the bus station at its present site are resistant to change Courant letters , September 18, 2015).

What we want is a ‘modern, fit for purpose bus station’ – as he put it – on its present site, with the buses coming in along Priestpopple and going out via Marks & Spencer, with a bus stop there, or vice versa.

Apart from that, anything else which would tidy up what is a dreadful eyesore, would be welcome. This would be change for the better and would keep everybody happy.

As for the Loosing Hill site being nearer the hospital, he obviously does not use the bus, as the present bus stop could not be nearer the hospital, and it seems unlikely that when the buses turn into Loosing Hill that they will stop there just before turning in.

Car drivers will also be adversely affected, as it is proposed to run buses into Hexham from Loosing Hill with necessary bus stop or stops. There will also be extra pedestrian crossings and possibly an extra roundabout in the Loosing Hill area, all of which will make it more difficult for the motorist.

We will also be losing valuable parking space, which is now compounded by the fact that the present car park further along from Loosing Hill is now going to be built on.

Welcome to Hexham?
