I HAVE been visiting my father's grave in Edgewell Cemetery, in Prudhoe, for almost 24 years now, the last seven of which my dog Radley has gone with me.

I was absolutely disgusted and very, very upset to have seen a notice suddenly appear at the cemetery saying: "no dogs allowed"!

The town council said people were ignoring the 'dog owners please act responsibly' signs. There was no consultation or warning and no consideration for the feelings of the people of Prudhoe.

I have never seen dog poo in that cemetery in all the years I have been visiting.

I have expressed my feelings in emails to Prudhoe Town Council which passed them on to the cemetery sub-committee.

I have patiently waited for the meeting and a response. I even asked if it would be ok if I carried Radley (having seen that Hexham Cemetery allow dogs with permission).

But my request has been rejected. I have been informed that as I am the only person to complain, it is believed everyone else has accepted the decision.

Prudhoe Town Council doesn't realise what it has done to me, and certainly don't care.
