I WONDER if Wylam Parish Council members have ever considered why cyclists want to use the footpath over the bridge at Wylam (Courant, June 12)?

Motorists are a menace and completely ignore all attempts to calm their speed despite the 20mph signs and so it is dangerous on the bridge for cyclists.

The waggonway is used by both cyclists and pedestrians so why not on the bridge? Surely a sign asking cyclists to stop and dismount if there are pedestrians crossing would be appropriate otherwise if the bridge is free of pedestrians what harm is there?

Come on you anti-cycling lobby, let’s have a bit of common sense and tolerance.
