Precedence

I HAVE some thoughts for those who complaints prompted the written warning sent to traders in Hexham’s Market Place.

If they so dislike the sights and sounds of 800-year-old Hexham market, then they should relocate their business.

Continuation of an English market town’s ancient traditions take precedence over their intolerance.

My answer to the council is this. Cease harassing these daily traders on the whim of an irritated business, and look instead more closely at the stalls trading only at the Tuesday market, from which I, for one, would never buy.

Finally, should there be a petition instigated in defence of the daily stallholders right to continue trading by shouting, then I will be amongst the first signatories.

MISS S.E. MORGAN,

Battle Hill,
