Attraction

THIS last weekend was spent on holiday walking in Northumbria and included a visit to Hexham.
As a visitor, it was lovely to see a town litter free and so clean looking everywhere we walked. We visited the Abbey and numerous other places and found the people so friendly and helpful.
We also walked around the Market Place and remarked how lovely it was to have somewhere where a market still existed.
I was therefore saddened to hear on Radio 2 and read in the papers that the market traders have to restrict their trading repartee due to complaints by office staff in nearby companies.
Do these people not realise that markets and the characters such as these people are what keep towns going and make them so attractive and vibrant?
This is what brings people into towns rather than drive them away. It’s sad that the companies’ employees are so short-sighted. They don’t realise how lucky they are to work in such a nice place.
Carry on Hexham, just the way you are.
