Praised for quick response

I WAS woken from my sleep at around 4am last Friday morning by much hilarity outside my bedroom window – no doubt from young people who have been successful in their A-level exams.
I heard a humorous shout of “honestly, the council can’t be trusted to do anything”, before the voices faded around the next corner. I dragged myself to the window – to find that the temporary road signs and cones that had been marking the closure of a small side-road, were now placed across the main road, appearing to close the whole of the Hexham to Corbridge road.
Luckily there weren’t many cars on the road at that time, but concerned that this may cause an accident (and not feeling strong enough to move them myself) I called the Northumberland County Council out of hours service. After not too long at all a man in a van arrived to diligently move everything back to its correct location.
So, thankfully the man from the council could be trusted to be there when we needed him most!
