Post office

THE campaign to save Bardon Mill post office reached its conclusion on Friday when a comprehensive report detailing reasons and data as to why the branch should not be closed was delivered to Post Office Ltd.
The campaign team used extensive surveys conducted by volunteers, local residents and businesses; detailed analysis of the local population via the 2001 census and electoral registers, and some example business expenditure forecasts to demonstrate the evidence not fully considered by Post Office Ltd when it made its initial decision for proposed closure.
The team also identified the village as a ‘sustainable village’ and the nature of the housing development, and hence additional post office business, it had attracted and would continue to attract – again not considered by Post Office Ltd.
The campaign now awaits feedback from Post Office Ltd and looks forward to an opportunity to discuss the report with its officials. A copy of the report is available for browsing in the local village shop
