Sleepless nights worrying about Prudhoe

HAVING attended the meeting at Hexham concerning the development at Prudhoe I expect that most local people who were there like myself experienced a sleepless night over the outcome.
I could liken it to a nightmare where you cannot scream. To think that people who do not live, work or even shop in Prudhoe made a huge decision about the future of our town.
We are told that we must move into the 21st century, in an arrogant, condescending manner, full of disdain, and that the only way forward is to have a Sainsbury’s shop – not shops to try to claw back the business that is being lost by people shopping outside of Prudhoe.
Shoppers go out of the area for various reasons and I am sure they will continue to do so.
Finally, we have the historic castle, which is not even featured in a tourist pamphlet available at Waterworld. Not far from it is to be built a B&Q style wall, and a five-storey block of flats. If this is moving into the 21st century, I would rather have stayed in the 20th.
