THE afternoon tea at 25 Cade Hill Road last Sunday raised a fabulous £506 for Tynedale Hospice at Home.

Philippa Harpin thanks everyone who helped to make the afternoon such a success, especially the hospice volunteers from Hexham, who will be very welcome at future events.

THE first of these is the garden party lunch on Sunday, August 2 at 1pm, which promises to be a grand affair, with a wonderful spread of cold meats, quiches and salads, home-made desserts, cheese and biscuits and coffee.

Tickets are availableby calling Tel. (01661) 842302. The price includes a glass of wine.

THERE are still some spaces left for the multi-sports week at Broomley First School from Monday, July 27 until Thursday, July 30, from 10am until 3pm daily.

Run by Good Sports @Tyne Rede and Coquet, the activities, for four to 13 year olds, include coaching in tennis, hockey, football, badminton, cricket, problem solving, water activities and crafts.

There are four weeks of activities in four different venues. For further information, contact Sarah Allan on (01661) 842027, 07795 364693 or email slallan@talktalk.net.

STOCKSFIELD South of Tyne Flower Club and Minsteracres Retreat Centre present Floral Splendour a festival of flowers, on Friday, July 31, 10am-5pm, Saturday, August 1, 10am-5pm and Sunday, August 2, 2pm-5pm, at Minsteracres Retreat Centre.

Refreshments are available, plus a raffle, tombola, and plant stall.

THE summer holidays have started, and if your children have time on their hands, why not encourage them to enter the children’s classes in the forthcoming Stocksfield Festival on Saturday, September 12?

Residents should have received entry forms for the competitive classes in the latest issue of NE43 News, but if you didn’t, they are available from local shops.

There are plenty of classes for children, including making an original vehicle from Lego pieces, or a picture of a famous person. And don’t forget the scarecrow competition – this is a great project for children to tackle in the summer holidays
