WE have another busy week in store in the village starting this morning, with lots of activity while the Cafe@The Foyer is open from 9.30am until 1pm.

Susan, the barber, will be in the Supper Room and Tracey Green will be available again to offer health and beauty advice. It sounds as though you could enjoy a full makeover and indulge in coffee and tasty treats under the same roof. What’s not to like?

The above won’t affect Linda’s exercise class which will still take place in the main hall from 10.30am until 11.30am.

FROM today until Sunday, Minsteracres is hosting a flower festival with displays created by members of the Stocksfield South of Tyne Flower Club.

This celebration of floral splendour will also honour the 250th anniversary this year of a Roman Catholic Mission at Minsteracres. Refreshments will be served throughout the weekend and the festival will finish with evening prayer being sung on Sunday at 5pm. Everyone welcome.

KIZ Crosbie and the Tyne Valley Youth Theatre have been working hard in both our halls this week rehearsing for their original production entitled The Birds Stop to Listen.

The players will be performing in the parish hall at 7pm tomorrow. It explores themes of power and control, fulfilling your potential and doing the right thing, even when it’s terrifying to do so.

Tickets are available on the door or via the TVYT website www.tvyt.org.uk

IF parents and grandparents are looking for ideas to entertain children during the holidays, then Riding Mill Tennis Club has two activities to offer.

Tennis coaching is available for five to 15-year-olds from Monday, August 3, until Friday, August 7. Simon McLeod will be running the sessions from 2.30pm until 4.30pm. You can sign up for all five sessions or pay per session. Contact Simon to book on 07758 357779.

Secondly, from Monday, August 10, until Thursday, August 13, from 10am until 3pm, a multisports and activities week takes place around the MUGA court behind the parish hall for four to 13-year-olds. Coaching in hockey, football, badminton, cricket, athletics, problem solving, water activities and crafts is on offer. Again, you can pay for the week or per day. To book contact Sarah Allan on 07795 364693, telephone (01661) 842027 or via Good Sports @ Tyne, Rede & Coquet.

All the above details and more can be found on the Riding Mill Tennis Club website www.ridingmilltennis.co.uk.

Remember that all the above activities are in addition to regular events in our village halls. The carpet bowls, karate, pilates, yoga, craft, art and exercise classes will still be running throughout the summer. It may be a good time to give something new a try!
