THANK you to Christine Andersen, Anne Lawrence and volunteers for a wonderful coffee morning on behalf of Macmillan Cancer Support last Friday.

The last I heard, £905 had been raised – a tremendous amount for such a worthy cause.

TODAY is your last opportunity to bring your jumble to the parish hall when the Cafe @ The Foyer is open from 9.30am until 1pm.

Alternatively, please deliver your goods between 5pm and 7pm tonight, or 9am and 11am on the day of the sale, tomorrow.

The jumble sale begins at 12.30pm.

If you are able to help on the day and haven’t already put your name forward, please call Linda Shepherd on (01434) 682069.

All sale proceeds will go towards the church cottage, which is now sporting its new roof, and excitement is building for the start of work on the interior.

TALKING about excitement – it will be a huge pleasure and honour to welcome back our beloved Alison, Bishop of Hull, who is returning on Sunday, October 4, to preach at St James’ Church.

ZUMBA classes were supposed to resume in the parish hall on Wednesday, October 7, but to date, insufficient people are showing an interest to be able to pay the tutor.

I will postpone the start date just in case the demand is still there, so please contact me as detailed below if you wish to know more.

BROOMHAUGH First School is hosting a promise auction in the parish hall on Saturday, October 10, at 7pm for 8pm.

With a wide variety of ‘promises’ on offer, there should be something for everyone’s purse.

Delicious nibbles, prepared by local chef Andy Snell, owner of bespoke catering experts Papaya, will be available.

To reserve your tickets, contact Emily Bonner on 07810 200665 or Helen Yates on 07939 632745.

IN the Millennium Hall on Saturday, October 10, acoustic folk band Fool’s Gold will be presenting stories with strings at 7.30pm for an 8pm start.

You can bring your own bottles, but glasses, nibbles and some drinks will be available.

Please support this band which helped the village earlier in the year by playing at the Music in the Park event in June.

Space is limited, so please ring me to book your ticket as detailed below.
