FIFTY years of sailing was celebrated in style on Derwent Reservoir over the Bank Holiday weekend.
The Derwent Reservoir Sailing Club held its 50th birthday regatta with two days of high-quality racing.
Unfortunately, strong winds on Bank Holiday Monday meant that some of the planned events could not go ahead. But Saturday and Sunday provided some fantastic sailing.
Stuart Donald, DRSC Commodore, said: “The club had a fantastic weekend with 13 skiffs competing in the Euro Cup Qualifier which was won by one of the club’s sailors, Dan Trotter. The club’s celebration regatta was contested by 36 boats and also won by a local youngster Edward Coady.”
The DRSC is now looking forward to hosting the Optimist Class Late Summer Championships on the first weekend in September. With 200 Optimist sailors, the club is anticipating a busy autumn.
