AWARD-WINNING pub, The Feathers Inn, has won the prestigious County Dining Pub of the Year award for the ninth year running.

Awarded by the Good Pub Guide 2017, the category celebrates regional businesses that are leading the way and providing outstanding food.

The Feathers Inn took the award for Northumberland, which is an impressive achievement in an area with such fierce competition.

The chef-proprietor behind much of the pub’s success is Rhian Cradock with his passionate commitment to transforming local and seasonal produce.

Since he took over in 2007, he has become famous for producing a new menu every day alongside an enviable beer and wine list.

Rhian’s wife, Helen Greer, co-owns the business and is just as passionate about its success.

She said: “We have always wanted to create a place that welcomes everyone.

“The idea is to make the best food accessible without the tasting menus that put many customers out of their food comfort zones.

“Our dishes are traditional and creative, as well as affordable.”

Speaking of the pub’s success, Rhian added: “We could not have done it without this exceptional team.”

Rhian took his first job in a professional kitchen at the age of just 16.

By 21, he was head chef of an award-winning bistro in Liverpool.

He then worked with many leading chefs in London before taking over The Feathers Inn at the age of 26.

The pub sits in the centre of Hedley on the Hill, and its rural location allows Rhian to get more involved with the farming processes behind his dishes.

Because of this, the pub’s achievements not only include awards for its food, but also three RSPCA awards for Rhian’s commitment to quality farming.

The pub’s achievement is being celebrated with the new appointment of chef Jack Robinson, who has previously worked with some of the leading Australian chefs in Melbourne and Sydney.

Rhian said he is excited to have Jack on board and delighted to be able to introduce him to diners.
