A MICKLEY care home has been forced to close its doors citing 'substantial financial pressures.'

Residents and family members were informed yesterday that Eastgate Manor Care Home in Mickley is to shut.

The home provides accommodation and personal care, including nursing care for up to 44 people, some living with dementia.

A spokesman from care home group management service, Careport said support would be offered to residents and their families to find an alternative home or service.

He said: "It is with deep regret we have to announce that we have taken the difficult decision to close Eastgate Manor Care Home.

"Everyone involved in running Eastgate Manor has worked tirelessly to try and assure the home's future.

"Sadly, after sustaining substantial financial losses at the home over a sustained period of time, this has not been possible.

"We are supporting all affected staff and will continue to find alternative positions within our group to minimise the impact on our people wherever possible."
