A NINE-year-old Broomley First School pupil has worked her magic to dream up a Harry Potter-inspired ice cream flavour which is on sale at Wheelbirks Parlour, near Stocksfield.

Year Four student, Anna Phillipson, was among dozens of youngsters who entered a competition at the Potter-themed school fair back in May, to come up with a suitable new addition to the Wheelbirk's ice cream cabinet.

Her recipe featured a delicious mix of fudges cubes, chocolate chips, sauce and yummy chocolate ice cream.

"We had a really good response to the competition and Anna's flavour, which she called Cornelius Fudge, was chosen as the winner," said PTA member Helen Hunter.

The school was transformed into Hogwarts for the fund-raising event, which was organised by the PTA and raised around £900.

"It was a very difficult decision to choose the winning Harry Potter themed ice cream flavour from all the entries, but ultimately Anna's was the best," said Lucinda Richardson of Wheelbirks.

"Anna herself loved tasting the ice cream that she had designed and took a complimentary pot home to enjoy. All eight trays sold within three days and we are busy making more so customers can come to enjoy Cornelius fudge ice cream all summer."
