BYWELL Castle, near Stocksfield, will host a summer garden party in support of a North-East charity next month.

Changing Lives, which has a base in Gateshead, has been supporting vulnerable people nationwide for the last 45 years.

The fund-raising garden party, to be held at Bywell on June 18, by kind permission of Lord and Lady Allendale, will help pay for vital services for people facing extreme challenges and crises, such as homelessness, addiction and domestic violence.

The event promises to be a family affair, with a treasure hunt, face painting, tombola, bouncy castle, roundabout and ice cream van all planned to keep youngsters entertained.

Guests are invited to bring a picnic blanket so they can enjoy al fresco food while listening to live music.

Tea, cake, and strawberries and cream will also be on offer.

Chief executive of Changing Lives Stephen Bell said: “We’re hugely grateful to Lord and Lady Allendale for kindly providing us with such a spectacular setting for our summer garden party.

“We hope that lots of members of the local community join us for a great afternoon and raise money for a good cause at the same time.”
