A BLANCHLAND woman is opening up her garden for a fund-raising event to thank the charity which saved her life.

Daphne Scott-Harden was airlifted to hospital by the Great North Air Ambulance after being hit by a car in Hexham in July 2014.

“It happened near Benson’s Monument and I was in a bad way,” said Daphne. “I had to have my leg rebuilt and I had a broken neck. It’s hard to recover from something like that but, as far as I’m concerned, without them I might not be here now.”

With the help of her family, she has organised live music, cream teas, ice cream, a Pimms bar and plant sales to ensure it’s a garden party to remember.

More than £4,000 has already been raised in an online auction at www.jumblebee.co.uk/GNAAgardenparty which closes tomorrow.

The garden party, which includes an entry charge on the gate, will run from 2pm until 5pm on Sunday at Newbiggin House, Blanchland.
