AFTER stepping in to help with a shortfall in Stocksfield parish councillors following the May 2013 local elections, the village’s county councillor has stepped down from her duties.

County councillor Anne Dale has been wearing two hats for more than two years, having been co-opted on to Broomley and Stocksfield Parish Council when only half of the 12 seats were filled.

But now that numbers are looking healthier, Coun. Dale announced she would be stepping down at the latest meeting of the parish council, but will continue to attend meetings as the county councillor.

Parish council chairman Coun. Maggi Hunt said: “We’d like to thank Anne for volunteering herself for co-option at a time when the council ran the real risk of not being able to make decisions because of vacancies.

“Whilst we now have nine councillors, we need to fill the three vacancies.”
