YOUNG actors and actresses impressed crowds in Stocksfield last weekend when they showed off their hard work in two performances.

The Stocksfield Junior Players performed a half-hour version of Alice In Wonderland before embarking on a full version of The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe on Friday and Saturday nights at Stocksfield Community Centre (SICA).

The youth drama group meets every Sunday for rehearsals and around 25 youngsters aged between five and 15 took part in last weekend’s performances.

Director Joy Pusey said: “The idea for doing two was because we have so many children in the junior drama club, I like to give everyone something to do, from the little ones to the older ones.

“The older ones had a lot to learn – there were four of them in Narnia, so they were big parts.

“The little ones were mostly in Alice and had little parts in Narnia as extras too.

“They were absolutely brilliant – I was so proud of them.

“We filled the hall on both nights.”

Stocksfield Junior Players is encouraging other youngsters to come on board for future performances, which they tend to run yearly.
