MULTIPLE champion Chris Celino enjoyed further success at this year’s Prudhoe and District Open Leek Show.

But the man whose name has been consistently on the honours board over the past decade, was pipped to the post in the pot leek category.

A handsome entry of 212.13 cu. ins, by Jack Westgarth ensured top spot, ahead of a 196.67 cu. ins effort by Mr Celino, who claimed all top three prizes in both the intermediate and blanch leek contests.

Meanwhile, Phil Thacker, who came third in the pot leek category with 166.99 cu. ins, was awarded the prize for best leek in show.

The Prudhoe show takes place each year with the support of several sponsors, which collectively donated £3,300 in prize money.

Lewis Hedley, a representative of the sponsors, said: “We had 49 entries overall and the show was very much a success.

“The quality was tremendous.

“The show is open to anyone from the Prudhoe district and we are always happy to welcome new faces.”
