A PAIR of three-storey town houses have been proposed for the centre of Mickley Square.
A planning application has been submitted by Mr S. Porter of Riding Mill for two semi-detached houses on Eastgate Bank in the village.
If the application goes ahead, the three-bedroom homes would be built on an elevated site at the entrance of the recently built Riverside Group housing development.
The semi-detached homes would share one building with separate entrances via a basement level each with a single garage and stairs to the ground floor.
As the proposed plot features a steep gradient to the front of the site, excavation will be required to install a drive and basement level garage.
Steps will be built to the side of each home for access to rear gardens.
The ground floor will comprise a living room to the front of the property, open plan kitchen/diner to the rear and double doors leading into a rear garden.
The first floor will feature a master bedroom with en-suite, a family bathroom and two bedrooms to the rear.
The application claims that the proposals will not ‘significantly affect the character and appearance of the area.’
The new properties would have a pitched slate roof and be constructed from brick with a colour render and timber effect horizontal cladding to the front elevation.
The application states: “The proposals will bring local economic and social benefit.”
